PeaceMaker Free to Everyone!

Dear All,

Thank you all for your support over the years. We are pleased to announce that we are finally making PeaceMaker free to the public. Our newest build doesn’t require any serial number activation and can be freely downloaded from the site. We hope this will allow the game to find an even larger audience in schools, community centers, and the general public.

If you have any technical issues with the game please refer to this post first to look for answers to the issues you may be facing:

Having Technical Issues? Read this first!

Enjoy and check back for news on future projects related to PeaceMaker. We currently have a mobile version of the game under development which will also address technical issues related to this version. This new development is also getting us moving down a path that will make a PeaceMaker toolkit available that will allow anyone to try their hand at making a version of PeaceMaker for other conflicts and social issues.

Sincerely,

Eric

  1. This is wonderful news. I have known about this game since it came out and bought two versions (gladly!) over the years, always with the hope to get teachers to use it in their politics courses. We are about to pilot it with a small group of students and hope that it will make a real difference to their learning. Thanks Eric for this surprise “christmas” present!

  2. Thank you very much for this. I cannot get Quicktime to work with the game though. Always tells me it cannot be recognized. :/

  3. UsF unfortunately that is the major technical issue that we face. For techies out there it is specifically related to Java and Quicktime not playing nice or being supported anymore. Hopefully we will have our newer version out soon which will put this issue to bed once and for all.

  4. Thank you very much for the reply and the continued support, even of the free version. :) Looking forward to it, maybe you can find a way to work things out. I assume there is no way to make it play nicely without Quicktime and rather an alternative Codec that emulates Quicktime?

  5. Can you please add me to your email list so I can be alerted when you new version comes out? I also cannot use the game because it won’t recognize the latest Quicktime, which I do have installed.

    Thanks!

  6. Generally you should still be able to play if it doesn’t recognize quicktime you just won’t be able to view the videos or hear the music (obviously not ideal since that is a major component of the experience. We could have undertaken to update the codec for the audio video but decided instead to invest that time in our new development so that the game will be available on mobile as well. We hope to have that out as soon as we can. We do not currently have a email list going so we just hope that you check back with us or watch for the announcement.

  7. Thank you for caring enough to make this educational experience available to one and all!! A friend told me about it, I googled it and downloaded it the same evening. Just to let you know, this isn’t only for young adult students; I am in my late 50’s, and PeaceMaker was a real challenge and quite an eye-opener! I managed, by taking quite a few “leaps of faith” after building a rapport with the Palestinians and the Israelis, to create a two-state solution as Prime Minister of Israel. I’m anxious now to try as the leader of the Palestinian people. As with many here I did this without the added impact of video and music because the PeaceKeeper wouldn’t recognize my up-to-date installation of QuickTime. This was a minor detraction however and I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to everyone from young adults to seniors. Thanks to all who had a hand in the development of PeaceKeeper!!

  8. I had the same quicktime problems as reported here earlier, but a bigger problem is that there seems to be some hacker activity around the activation process. I’m asked for serial number activation (even though it says here the free version does not require that) and then there’s a link to a manifestogames page. Clicking that gives the message that this page is a false on (a hacker).
From playing the demo version I do think this game should be added to my games for education database (Databank Games), but that’s not a good idea as long as this hacking problem exists.

  9. Is there any news for this game potentially being reworked without Quicktime and coming to Steam?
