Questions…

So many questions. We get them all the time. It is helpful, as it makes us think and think hard. Is your game “fun”? Can a peace game be challenging? Aren’t you worried about trivializing the conflict? How do you keep the balance? What are your assumptions? And so many more. As a starter, I would suggest to check out the Serious Games Summit presentation we gave in October 2005. You can register for free to GDCTV and watch it online. It was long ago, we were still students and we treated PeaceMaker as an academic project. Since then, we were overwhelmed with interest from around the globe, people of all ages and tastes and we’ve decided to establish ImpactGames. Still, I think this presentation is interesting as it opens a window to our early process and challenges. Feel free to skip my parts, I would especially recommend listening to the Sweeney…

I am honored to be the first comment for you on this blog. I just want to say that I am very excited for the release of your Project turned Game. I am very interested in the conflict going on and have done extensive reading about it. I am interested to see what the game will do to the understanding. Not necessarily for me, since I do enjoy reading books and documents about it. But hopefully it will open up other peoples’ eyes about the intricacies of the situation. This project is also very close to what I would like to do in the future. I am a computer programmer/developer and also very interested in world politics. This kind of project is exciting to me.

Thank you so much for continuing to do what you guys are doing!
